The Crystal World belongs to the disaster books, but deals with the most glitteringly glamourous death-of-the-world ever dreamed of. I bought a perspex humming bird at Selfridges last christmas, and couldn't resist putting him on the scanner though I knew he wouldn't scan well. The colours of the stretchy lizards are a little beefed up, and the entire collage was crystalized using a photoshop filter. The book is a Panther reprint, a tiny paperback which fits pleasingly into a jacket pocket. The pretty cover drawing is by Richard Whittern. |
